AI Usage Policy
Last updated:
DepthSignal includes AI-assisted interpretation features that explain the visible market context in plain language. This policy explains what those features do, what they do not do, and what you are responsible for when you use them.
1. What the AI Does
DepthSignal's AI-assisted interpretation is a market-context interpretation tool. It works with the market context data that DepthSignal already provides. Specifically, it:
- Interprets orderbook, technical-analysis, and pressure data in plain language, explaining what the visible context means in practice.
- Explains how the visible context fits together and provides historical context based on data within your subscription tier.
- Summarizes market conditions across exchanges, drawing on the same data the platform displays.
The AI does not have access to data outside what DepthSignal already provides. It reads the same context, the same computed reads, and the same exchange feeds that are visible on your platform.
2. What the AI Does Not Do
These are hard limits, not disclaimers. The AI is built to avoid these things. It will not do them even if you ask.
- No financial advice. The AI feature is not intended to tell you what to buy, sell, or hold.
- No trade recommendations. It does not suggest entries, exits, or position sizes.
- No price predictions. It is not intended to forecast where a price will go or when.
- No portfolio management. It cannot access, manage, or monitor your portfolios or exchange accounts.
- No trade execution. It has no connection to any exchange or brokerage.
- No personal financial knowledge. It does not know your balance, risk tolerance, tax situation, or investment goals.
3. Your Responsibility
Using the AI features does not transfer any decision-making responsibility to DepthSignal.
- All trading decisions are yours alone. No one at DepthSignal, and no AI we operate, makes decisions on your behalf.
- The AI interprets data. It does not tell you what to do. There is a meaningful difference.
- Past patterns described by the AI do not predict future results. Market conditions change. Historical context is context, not a forecast.
- You should not rely on AI output as the sole basis for any financial decision. Use it alongside your own analysis and judgment.
4. Data Handling
When you use AI chat features, here is what happens to your data:
- Stored conversations. Your messages and AI responses are stored in our database to provide chat history across sessions.
- Third-party AI providers. Conversations are sent to a third-party provider for processing. Current provider: OpenAI. (GDPR Article 28: processor obligations apply to AI sub-processors) (GDPR Articles 44-49 govern international transfers to US-based AI providers)
- No training on your data. These providers do not use your conversations to train their models. We have Data Processing Agreements in place with each of them.
- You can delete your history. Go to Settings to delete all conversation history at any time. (GDPR Article 17: right to erasure applies to AI conversation history)
- Automatic deletion. Conversations are automatically deleted after 30 days (Trader plan), 90 days (Professional and Expert plans), or 1 year (Enterprise plan).
For full details on how DepthSignal handles personal data, see the Privacy Policy, specifically the "AI Conversations" section.
5. Limitations
The AI is useful, but it has real limitations you should know about before relying on it.
- It can be wrong. It interprets data, not truth. Interpretations are probabilistic, not certain.
- Data quality affects output. If market data is delayed or incomplete, the AI's interpretation reflects that. Check the
data_freshnessfield when data quality matters. - English only. The AI responds in English. Other languages are not supported.
- Tier-gated data. The AI feature is permission-scoped to your subscription tier and should only receive data your plan includes.
6. Feedback and Errors
If an AI response looks wrong or unhelpful, use the feedback button on the response. This sends the message and your rating to our team. It helps us identify patterns in AI errors and improve the system over time.
If you believe the AI has given you something that looks like financial advice, or made a claim that concerns you, flag it using the feedback button and contact us at [email protected].
